2010 Premiers - with Thommo on top!
Wandsworth 2.5 6.7 11.11 15.15 105
Putney 0.2 2.3 3.3 4.7 31

Note:

We have the Premiership cup back! In an absolutely dominant display Wandsworth pulled steadily away from Putney for the first half and then broke free to run out resounding winners and 2010 Premiers.

Putney never gave up and showed why they were Grand Finalists, but this Demons team was well-prepared, skilled, and hungry for the title.

Winning every position on the day, it was hard to pick out a best player, but the umpires were dazzled by the bag of goals, zillion touches, and flowing locks of Mark Brescacin, or just Brescy. A worthy winner of the Best on Ground award.

The other two Grand Finals did not go as well, which always seemed inevitable when West failed to make the Premiership final. I was impressed with the confidence going into the matches as well as the endeavour shown on the field, but although we'd have had a difficult task against their usual sides, those few extra guys really can hurt.

That's not to say West dropped all of their top players, they did not, and I'm sure all of their team played plenty of twos football. But some of them would have been required by their firsts had they made it, and that's where it gets tougher.

But that's football, and as President Nash has said all day, we're one club and we'll party all night and celebrate with the firsts, from Brescy through to the guys who showed up to run water for the thirds. And try to leave the Alex in one piece!

From the Melbourne Football Club

Congratulations,

There is no finer emotion in our sport than beating the Magpies.

Whilst a thrashing is great, and a hearty "well-played" is in order, perhaps the misery could have been extended further by a one point win with a kick after the siren.

On behalf of the Board, Coaches, Players and Staff of the Melbourne Football Club, congratulations on your Premiership Victory.

Best wishes,
Cam
