RD7.5 '18: Demons vs Giants (Men's Conference)

Tony "Whitey" White | 05.07.18

Clapham Demons 14.11.95 def South East London Giants 1.5.11

Round 7 saw the Conference boys make their way out to Peckham Rye to take on the South East London Giants.

It was a beautiful day for football but it was not a beautiful start by the Demons. Some sloppy play and a lack of discipline saw the Giants control much of the first quarter, but thankfully for the Demons, the Giants weren’t able to capitalise on their good work.

The second term continued much like the first, as we appeared to move away from what has made us a good team through the first half of the season. Despite the poor start we were able to hit the score board setting up a solid lead going into half time. While not our best half of football there were still a number of positives to come out of the first half. In his best game for the club Kirby dominated at full back, marking everything that came near him and setting up a number of attacks.

The second half saw a new look Demons. As the boys started to sober up, they started to play some good football. H and Fintan led from the front and got the midfield going resulting in a number of opportunities up forward with Chester, Soon and OE getting on the end of a few. The backline started to work together and we were much more disciplined in shutting down the Giants players. It was pleasing to see the boys were able to turn it around.

A poor first half and a good second half saw the demons run out 13 goal winners.

It is with sadness that we farewell some Demons legends, as we said goodbye to Marto and Mens Premiership player Jet in what was their final games for the club. Good luck fellas.

The Conference boys now look to take on the Raiders this Saturday on Clapham Commons. Yes ploooissee!!

Go Dees!
