RD8 '18: Demons vs Wildcats (Women's Conf)

Clapham Demons 4.9.33 def West London Wildcats 0.0.0

Following Friday night footy it was back to the Common for an 8.30am start for women's Conference. It was already a scorcher by the time the She-Dees had touched a footy so we wanted to get away to a good start early.

Thanks to Junior, Macca, Steely and Meeks in the middle we were out of the blocks early with some top notch centre clearance work. Playing her first game for a while Tinni was dominant on the wing and managed to kick the 1st goal of the game. At the other end Jess Tester was not giving the Cats a sniff.

The 2nd quarter was much the same, with the Demons dominant in terms of possession and territory. In fact for the whole 4 quarters I can't recall the Wildcats entering their forward 50m arc! Whilst we had plenty of the pill, the opposition were dropping some numbers back to make the game a hard fort scrap. Tracey and Amy W went close to scoring, but it was Junior who managed to put one through and give us a 2 goal lead at the half time break.

We mixed some players around allowing the backs to get a touch of the footy. Zoro and G-Banger were both really good targets and had good support from Screech and Sophie. In another quarter which was dominated by the Demons it was this time Zoro who kicked the goal, her first in Demons colours.

For the final term we wanted to try and get 2 goals and keep the Cats scoreless. Everyone was working overtime, especially Sophie's face which copped a footy nice and flush, if nothing else giver her a free botox injection to the upper lip. Nic B and Liv were giving us a ruck option which meant Junior could go forward and look like she was about to tear the game apart, however it was a love banana kick from G-Banger which was our 4th and final goal of the day.

It was a performance worthy of pride round, literally every player contributed to the win in their own way and coach Exelby will be proud as punch of his tasty 2's. Two more games and two more wins means top spot and an automatic spot in the Grand Final, its going to be a huge couple of weeks against Putney Pies and London Swans!

Goals: Tinni, Junior, Zoro, G-Banger

Best: Too many to fit them all in
