Wandsworth Demons X.X.XX def. South East London Giants X.X.XX

Pride Round continues the Rainbow Streak! Prem Girls faced down the SE London Giants for the 2nd time this season, on the weekend of London's Pride March, and the rainbows were out in force.

The girls got their sun safety on point, covering themselves in rainbow zinc, with classic lines under the eyes and the original whole arm and leg line. It worked super well with our Pride guernseys  that some were wearing and the girls looked ready for a game of footy.

To the footy, we're always looking to improve being top dog and wanted to better our score from last time against the giants. But to their credit, the Giants improved as well and their movement around the contest was better, netting them 2 goals for the match whereas last time we kept them scoreless.

However it was still a dominant display by us, with the game largely played in our forward half. We kept putting it onto our forwards heads and locked in for multiple efforts. For mine, the effort of the day was Bonnie Johnson. Absolutely showed why her nickname is Buckets, kicking 5 goals and taking at least 7-8 marks. Pretty sure she had glue on her hands because she couldn't drop it if she tried.

With our normal mainstay Jordy away this week, co-captain Prip stepped up to the ruck and did a fine job. While to her own admittance not as dominant in the rucks themselves, I actually didnt notice as on the ground she was a good physical presence and we still got our clearances as usual.

Flipping back to the forward line, Jess Calam snared 2 tough running goals on her left foot! Turns out she's a lefty, so my celebrations were possibly over the top, but they were excellent goals none the less. Having been out of the game a year minimum, it's good to see her make a strong comeback.

My honourable mention this week is Sharky for a bone rattling collision in front of our bench. Making her return to footy after some time away, you wouldn't have known as running back with the flight, she absolutely smashed into the opposing teams ruck who stayed down well after Sharky had left the area.

We finished the game 7 goals and 5 behinds, a nice change with more goals than points. Last game against the Cats before finals! 💪 #FILTFC
