Round 2 - Womens Conference - Dee's v Wildcats

Matt Sexton | 19.05.22

The sun was shining, the scene was set for a battle of the long standing AFL London titans.

We began the day with 14 on the field and 9 on the bench, a number that fell to 2 on the bench come the 4th quarter. First gamer Taz showed immediately that they are going to be a fantastic player, making an impact all over the ground. Most importantly kicking the winning goal of the game.

Led by our captain Bridget Lane, our midfielders had a blinder with Mackenzie and Chloe showing they are locked and loaded as tough opponents for any team to come up against.

Our backline was impenetrable, no getting past Liz Perri, Steph Boone and Jess Smith.

Queue the 3rd quarter break. Our bench is decimated, the girls are tired. We asked one question, do we want it more? By golly did we show that to end out the game. Every Wildcat player was only able to take possession of the ball for a millisecond before a Demon put on a tackle. A game saving smother from Steph Boone put the icing on the cake. We had done it.

The first win is in the bag, the first time singing the song together for 2022 and it felt fantastic. Onto round 3!
