Round 3 - Womens Conference - Dee's v Hawks

Matt Sexton | 30.05.22

Throughout the weeks prior there have been whisperings and murmurings about who would be playing the primetime 4pm slot. It was announced, the conference girls were playing in the big time, the buzz around the club was electric.

The vibe was fantastic and the scheduling allowed us to bring in some experienced girls into the group to provide their guidance and leadership. We ran through our lines and the game day plan, setting all the girls the small goal of getting a shepherd.

From Q1 we could see that they were going to be tough but we held our own while working our way into the game. We went into the 2nd quarter fired up and we peppered their forward 50 with entries while our midfielders held a fantastic wall. Unfortunately we were unable to capitalize on those entries but the play was fantastic.

Coming into the 4th quarter we were a few goals down and the girls went out and finished the game off with a pressure that is quintessential to our game style. Although we didn't get the win it was incredible looking at the effort and commitment each player put in. Looking at small things like the perfect back door handballs from Charley and first gamer Annie and the shepherding from every single player it proves we are improving with every game.

Bring on round 4
