Round 9 - Men's Conference - Lions vs Dees

Rowhen McBride | 14.07.22

In ordinary circumstances the boys made their way up North for the third week in a row to line up against a 14 man North London squad.

With no bench available for the Lions, we knew we had the number advantage - literally 10 Demons kitted up on the bench raring to go.

It was a sluggish first quarter with the Demons only kicking two goals to one. Our boys were unable to fire up any intensity and in these hot conditions were left a little flat.

The quarter time break sparked a few boys into gear as our rotations also came into effect. The second quarter was all about the debutant, Peter Gough, who was silky when gathering possession and effective when disposing. Andy Everall rotated into the forward line late in the quarter to finish a tidy snap from 45m and lead the boys into the break with a four goal buffer.

But this was not enough - this is where Alex Coe stood up in the middle. Slotting a couple from around the arc and finishing the afternoon with three goals along with 30+ disposals inside and outside the packs.

Andrew Fay stood tall in the last half and collected his bag of five goals for the afternoon but it was late in the final quarter our showman, The Ultimate, from deep inside a pocket slotted what could be the goal of the year and his very first as a Demon! That’s not where it ends though, the celebration was next level as the shirt came off and The Ultimate proceeded with a lap of honour.

All I know is that this will be seen to by our Fine Masters and they will be setting a hefty price to be donated to Fight MND!

The Demons ran out convincingly in the end finishing 18.10 118 to 2.0 12.
