Wandsworth Demons 11.8 (74) def. North London Lions 8.5 (53)

After a narrow loss in the Semi Final, the Premier team found themselves in a do or die battle against last year’s premiers North London Lions.

We got out of the blocks early thanks to a brilliant snap from Cooney in the opening seconds of the match and as the first quarter progressed it was clear we had come to play, controlling the majority of the play. We went into the quarter time break with a 2 goal lead.

The second quarter saw the Lions lift the tempo and start to get on top through the midfield. The backline were rock solid thanks to Drake and Naffan leading the charge and Goodman and Tex providing good run and carry. Demons went into the half time break 5 points up.

After the long break we broke the shackles and completely dominated play through the midfield with Pitman, Ash, Durance and Jet all providing too much for the Lions to handle, at 3 quarter time we went in with a 5 goal lead.

The last term saw Lions turn things around to have one last crack at us, kicking the first 2 goals to bring it back to a 3 goal margin midway through the term. The Cool heads of Ash, Chiz and Tex helped us get the game back on our terms and book our spot into the Grand Final.
