RD4 '19: Demons vs Roos (Men's Social)

Eoin Kenny | 11.06.19

South London Demons 3.5.23 def. Reading Roos 3.4.22

After 2 weeks off, including an Epsom Derby, since our last game, round 3 was always shaping up as a difficult one for the Super 3’s!

Reading are always a tough game, and it feels like they set themselves especially for road trips to the Common.... and today was no exception!

The weather was as bad as it could be with hurricane winds blowing across the ground all day.

What transpired once the ball bounced was the most stressful game of football I’ve had to coach....

1st Qtr 1.1 - 0.0
2ndQtr 1.1 - 2.3
3rd Qtr 3.4 - 2.4
4th Qtr 3.5 - 3.4

The effort and ability to keep Reading to 1 goal in the last quarter, with a howling wind behind them, was just an amazing achievement!!!

Mark Brescacin, our spiritual leader, moved on ball in the 3rd, then covered everything in the last and made sure we kept our unbeaten start to the year on track. Stephen Pilgrim was a class above all day and easily took BOG honours (again)...

Goals were hard to get all day with the difficult conditions but Pitto, Darcy and Pilgs took their chances when they came....

It was a tough, hard game for the super 3’s and a few players really stepped up when needed... Hank, Darcy, S. Morgs, Casa gave everything all day in the middle...

Things are looking on track for another successful Super 3’s season!!
